Weight difficulties

Our world, our society, is not set up for success to manage weight in a healthy way. We have delicious tasting but high calorie food available so easily and most of us lead sedentary lives, so it's no wonder many adults struggle with obesity. The thing is, many of the things we read about and see online are fast fixes, not sustainable, healthy solutions. Maybe you've tried 75 hard, a New Years Resolution, going keto, carnivore, or that latest trend you saw on TikTok, but it just hasn't stuck yet. â€‹

Behavioral and acceptance-based treatments are recommended by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Stop reaching for the latest, quick fix and get yourself the expert, comprehensive support you deserve.

Behavioral and Acceptance-based Treatment for Weight Management

These treatments focus on controlling what you can related to the parts of our life that impact our weight. This usually means setting goals for what you eat and how you move, and how to manage overeating. These treatments also focus on concrete strategies to address what we can't control related to weight, such as the fact that sitting on the couch will always be more pleasurable than getting up and starting to exercise. â€‹â€‹

Treatment typically last about 6 months, with additional follow-up appointments available to help with accountability. I have worked with hundreds of adults to help them successfully manage their weight and make weight truly just a number on the scale, not something that controls your health and happiness. I currently provide telehealth to adults in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania with in-person availability coming soon in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

I have experience in working with people in conjunction with GLP-1s and bariatric surgery. These are great tools to address the biological parts of weight management, but usually people need an extra hand with the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that impact our health in the long term, particularly if you do not plan on being on medication forever.

Issues related to Weight

Maybe you had an injury that caused you to cut back on exercise, a big life change like having a baby, or a stressful time at work that left you without any time to make healthy food. We can work together to get to the root of the issues that impact your eating or activity so you can make realistic, sustainable changes for a lifetime.
