Dr. Jocelyn Remmert

I am a licensed clinical psychologist.
I help busy adults prioritize their health and wellness.
Where does your health fall on the ever growing daily list of things to do?
If you have kids they are probably first on the list, then there's work, your partner, feeding everyone, keeping the house clean, walking the dog, maybe caring for aging parents... you have, what, maybe 5 minutes a day max for yourself?
I can help you with the cornerstones of daily, healthy living: how you sleep, what you eat, moving your body, and managing stress related to your health. You deserve realistic, evidence-based help and not the latest supplement or advice from a fitness influencer who has 6 hours a day to exercise and meal prep and no one waking them up in the middle of the night.
I provide down-to-earth and expert support so you can show up for everything and everyone else in your life.
Support for You
I provide evidence-based behavioral treatments for your health. I can help you make the most of those few minutes you have for yourself. My specific areas of expertise are below.

Help with sleep.
Help with motivation to change your health.
You've tried everything to get better sleep: going to bed earlier, putting your phone away... but it still isn't working. Your mind runs and runs when you get into bed.
You keep setting goals every Monday, but by Wednesday you're out of will power. Maybe you want to move more, manage your stress better, but don't know how to realistically fit it into your life.

Bariatric Surgery Pre-evaluation
Pre-surgical evaluation by a mental health profession is often a necessary step before surgery. I offer same week turn around for all paperwork needed.

Help with weight management
Help with eating.
Are you spending your days focusing on what you eat? You try to avoid certain foods, but end up feeling out of control and eating more than you intend.
You've tried to make changes to your weight before, but nothing has been sustainable over the long-term.

Coping with Health conditions
Our physical health can impact so much of our lives. Are you struggling with how to handle a health problem and live your best life?
Take the next step, get the expert support you deserve.
It is time to put yourself on the priority list. Time to finally make your goals real life.

FAQs for working with Dr. Remmert
3. How much do appointments cost?
$300
We often spend money on the health of others, especially our family, without a second thought. What if you did the same for yourself, and prioritized your health?
Pricing for Phone/other brief follow-ups can be discussed as needed.
Bariatric surgery pre-evaluation: $700 (includes all necessary assessments and same week turn-around for all necessary paperwork)
Workshops are priced based on individual needs, please reach out for an estimate.
4. How long are appointments?
Most appointments are ~50 minutes.
I do offer brief check-ins (15-30 minutes) as needed, usually to help with accountability and maintaining progress.
5. Where do appointments take place?
All appointments take place through a secure telehealth platform. You must be physically located in Rhode Island or Pennsylvania. I find it is incredibly beneficial to work on these parts of our everyday life -in a way that fits into our everyday life. This can mean an appointment in your car, at night after kid bedtime...we'll find a way to make it accessible to you. I am based out of East Greenwich, Rhode Island and will have in-person space coming soon in the East Greenwich area for those who prefer.
6. What ages do you work with?
I work with individuals 18 years and older.
7. What types of interventions do you use?
I am an expert in focused, behavioral interventions. What that translates to is realistic, supportive accountability using evidence-backed techniques. For insomnia, I deliver CBT for insomnia, a 6-8 appointment treatment that is the #1 recommended treatment for insomnia (that works better in the long term than medications). For eating and weight-related issues, I deliver CBT for eating disorders or behavioral/acceptance-based treatments for eating and weight management. For motivation and stress management, I use behavioral, cognitive, acceptance and mindfulness techniques. At the end of the first appointment, I make sure to personalize a treatment plan for you, based on the science and my expertise.
8. When are you available to meet?
I am typically available in the afternoons and evenings and can work to find a time that works for you.
9. What does the first appointment look like?
I'll ask a variety of questions to learn about what you are having difficulty with. At the end of the first appointment, we'll establish goals and set up a next appointment. If at the end of the first appointment we discuss that we aren't a good fit to work together, I will help you figure out what the next best step is.

1. Do you take insurance?
While I do not take insurance at this time, many health insurances provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers. I work with a HIPPA-compliant service that streamlines reimbursement for therapy appointments. This service submits the paperwork and handles all claims. This means you don't have to deal with any paperwork if you don't want to! You can also use an HSA/FSA card to pay or elect not to use insurance.
2. What are the benefits of working with a psychologist who doesn't take insurance up front?
Insurance can often drive how many appointments you have and requires a diagnosis. This can restrict the work we do together, instead of letting us focus on what matters to you. By working outside of insurance I can customize the length of appointments, what we focus on, and help you reach your goals.
